Trailer for “Cape Fear”: Javier Bardem Terrifies Amy Adams and Patrick Wilson on Apple TV

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, Javier Bardem is ready to terrify Amy Adams and Patrick Wilson and exact his revenge in the first released images from the series Cape Fear.
The series is created and directed by Nick Antosca (creator of Brand New Cherry Flavor and A Friend of the Family) and is inspired by Martin Scorsese’s 1991 violent remake of J. Lee Thompson’s original 1962 film. Bardem plays Max Cady, a sadistic killer freshly released from prison seeking revenge on the lawyers who put him behind bars. Previously, Robert De Niro and Robert Mitchum played this role in earlier versions. The new series is based on John D. MacDonald’s 1957 novel The Executioners.
Production Team and Story
Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg (who originally intended to direct the remake) serve as executive producers, with Morten Tyldum also directing episodes. The 10-episode limited series follows:
“A storm is coming for the happily married lawyers Anna Boden (Amy Adams) and Tom Boden (Patrick Wilson) when Max Cady (Javier Bardem), the notorious killer they helped imprison, is released from prison — and seeks revenge.”
The released trailer indicates that the series remains faithful to the Southern Gothic and suspenseful horror atmosphere of previous versions. Bardem’s sadistic laugh and prison tattoos fully convey a sense of fear and menace.
Cast and Release Date
Other cast members include Joe Andres (Kate Winslet’s child), Lily Collias (independent film Good One), Malia Pyles (Pretty Little Liars), and CCH Pounder (The Naked Gun). Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey, alongside Steven Spielberg, produce the series for Amblin Television.
Scorsese’s original film adaptation, starring Robert De Niro and Juliette Lewis, earned both actors Oscar nominations.
Cape Fear will premiere on Apple TV on Friday, June 5.
